English Language Challenges

English is probably one of the most spoken languages in the world, and the advantages of speaking it are endless. That is why learning a new language, whatever it is, is very important, it opens a whole lot of doors and opportunities.

I started to study English when I was about 8 years old, and then a year after I started having English classes at school. Truth is I've never really had a major difficulty learning this language. And now at university I feel more relaxed in classes, mostly because there is not that many people at the classroom and the Professor is very talented and caring. The addition of technology in the process of learning has been very useful as well. Blogs, videos, songs and many more activities that take place in the classroom have help and made easier the understanding of a new language.

I've always found it hard to remember the grammatical rules. Usually when I write or read something and spot a mistake I don't normally notice it for being wrong by grammar, but because it looks weird or it sounds wrong at how I'm used to hear or read it. I sometimes can get very british when I speak, but if I don't do it out loud for a while I tend to lose the accent and then instead get a very unpleasant accent. I guess I can try to learn the language rules and practice a bit more the accent.

Outside the class I use the English pretty much everyday. When I get home, I tend to speak to myself in English just to practice my pronunciation. I watch videos on Youtube of people that speak it. And everytime that I can I watch movies without the subtitles, but that is only when I am alone, otherwise my parents wouldn't understand a thing.

Changes on the Study Programme

I don't think studying has been easy for anyone, especially in Chile. In my high school we used to have lots of problems with the poor infrastructure, the lack of resources, the nonstop stress. Also the
uninterrupted stop of activities made it very hard to keep the rhythm of study that i should have kept.

Now in university, considering is an instance for more mature choices from everyone, one gets to realise it is not that different from what i experience the last 6 years of my school life.

Whilst the infrastructure and the resources have been improved, the workload and stress is even worst now!! Of course that is attributed to the fact that university is far more challenging than school, and is more specific to what you are considering to continue studying and work for the rest of your life.

The add of technology in the learning process has helped a lot. Now the search for information is faster and easier. The research area has been upgraded thanks to that. Even now we have the opportunity to write about subject that we consider important to discuss online. The creation of internet and its complementary use in teaching/learning has made everything so effortless.

The length of university careers are sometimes long if we consider the fact that not all students get to complete them in the right amount of years because of its difficulty. But they cannot be shortened either due to the complexity of the subjects to view.

Summer Holidays

La Herradura - Coquimbo

It is almost the end of 2016! The time does fly and it will be soon time to have a really deserved resting time.  Me and my parents are planing to visit my brother, his wife and my niece in Coquimbo. Last summer we couldn’t go because my mother was ill, so this time we will be spending a week there.

If it was up to me to decide where to go, and if i had the resourses obviously, I would love to go to europe or the south of chile. I love visiting places with lots of history and beautiful architecture. But on the other hand it would be a privilege to enjoy the peacefulness that the mountain and forests of the south give you.

I’d also love to go to the beach with my friends even if it’s just for the day. To be able to relax and have a really nice time with the amazing and lovely people i’ve meet this year. Also catching up with my old friends that i can’t see that often because they are studing other carees somewhere else.

A few of my drawings.

The time that i'll spend at home i will probably be either sleeping, playing video games with my friends, probably get obssesed with another tv series and watch it during all summer and what relaxes me the most, drawing.
Also my birthday is at the end of the summer holydays! Can’t wait!

Addictions

A drug of abuse can be something complicated like an Hallucinogen or Cocaine, or it could be something as simple and common as coffee, alcohol or tobacco.
Everyone who's overage have consumed either coffee or alcohol in their life. But when does it become an addiction? Well it depends on how much and how often you drink them.

Resultado de imagen para drunk people   In the case of the alcohol people most often drinks it to celebrate, that is the main reason, I think, that they don't know when it's too much and when they should stop drinking. Drinking too much alcohol ends up in you getting drunk, you feel dizzy, you get blurred vision and slurred speech. Some people get so drunk that they pass out from the abuse of it and when they wake up they don't remember a thing. How does the alcohol addiction affects you also depends on your genetics, if you have a close family member who has problems of alcoholism you have a big chance of develop one too. Most of these effects are caused by the dehydration that the body feels when you don't drink enough water,.

In fact my brother's girlfriend who smoked a lot made me hate the smell of it, She smoked every minute of the day!
My uncle used to had problems of alcoholism. He would usually call my dad, drunk and crying looking for his advice. Thankfully he entered rehabilitation for his drinking problem about 6 years ago and stop drinking ever since. He said it was controlling his life and that it was enough!

Post Graduate Studies

Since I was very young I've had the idea of helping people in a very direct, close and caring way. There was even a time that I considered studying medicine to then become a neurosurgeon doctor. Obviously that idea is scratch out of the possibilities for now.

As an student of Chemistry and Pharmacy I know that there are a lot of ways to help people when I get a job. The post-graduate study that I like the most thus far is Clinical Pharmacy. You get to work next to doctors, and that interaction generates a better and much more efficient  treatment for patients.

I've also realised throughout the years how much I enjoy teaching, whether is chemistry or english, I get a feeling of satisfaction that motivates me to continue doing it, so if the first doesn't work out, being a teacher in secondary school is a great possibility as well. teaching chemistry of course.

I'm just starting to consider what to study, what I have is a close idea, therefor I'm not sure yet where to continue my studies, so far I believe I'll stay at the University of Chile. Although I'd love to study out of the country, to experience a new way of learning, probably with new technologies that are not currently available in Chile, it would also open new doors in the job area.
